Summary

Hassen Chalghoumi is a man of peace who claims to have been seduced by the spirit of Gandhi and the great figures of classical Islam such as Averroes. Let’s Free Islam from Islamism sets the record straight and fights both the minority of Islamists who behave as enemies of the French Republic and the extremists who, in France, have always looked for scapegoats, with Jews as well as with Arabs.

Hassen Chalghoumi considers that secularism is an opportunity for Muslims in France, that it protects all religions and that it is the best way to avoid the resurgence of religious wars.

Summary

To not let go of republican values in the face of extremists.

The West is at a crossroads: identity fractures, populist waves, foreign interference, communitarianism, radicalization… The terrorist attacks that have bloodied the decade that is ending are only the tip of a gigantic iceberg, which is called political Islam.

Imam Hassen Chalghoumi has been fighting for twenty years: at the same time a whistleblower, a fighter for peace around the world and a tireless activist in the field, his life under perpetual protection alone symbolises the adversity facing democracy. In The Struggles of an Imam of the Republic, he clearly sets out the choice that is urgently available to the West: civil war or the republican awakening, which could, at the cost of true realism and courage, rebuild the brotherhood of peoples. And on this path, the only one that gives Europe a future, Hassen Chalghoumi offers global reflections and concrete solutions.

Summary

"Whoever kills one man, kills all mankind" [ verse of the Qur'an ]

Jihad, fatwa, Muslim Brotherhood, Islamists, Salafists… Words that circulate everywhere, flood the news. We get lost in this vocabulary, used as much by Daesh, AQIM and the media, as on the Internet, this beautiful advance of our century which is also a source of abuses. Anyone grants himself the right to interpret the sacred language of Allah, giving false definitions and dubious, dangerous explanations. Sites take advantage of this and “hypnotize” some of our children until their fatal arrival in Syria.

Since the Charlie Hebdo attacks, we have all been in mourning. I have taken a stand against these crimes that threaten our societies, our freedoms and our lives. Terrorism has taken Islam and the Muslim community hostage, claiming to be acting in the name of Allah, appropriating the holy words of the Qur’an, diverting them from their original meaning.

This book restores the truth. There is an emergency. If fundamentalists kill in its name, let us remember that Islam advocates peace, tolerance and respect. We, French Muslims, declare to the world what the Koran revealed to the prophet Muhammed fourteen centuries ago: “If you are not my brother in religion, you are my brother in humanity.”

Summary

It took the tragic events of the spring of 2012 in Montauban and Toulouse and the recent arrest of a group of Islamists ready to carry out terrorist actions for political leaders, the media and public opinion to become aware of the criminal and suicidal drift of young Muslims – sometimes converts – which lead them from delinquency to religious exaltation and gratuitous crime.

However, there has been no shortage of warnings and, for years, the Imam of Drancy, Hassen Chalghoumi, has been warning of the dangers of the rise of communitarianism, Muslim fundamentalism, and the influence of fanatics. Is it already too late? How can we avoid, for example, the taking hostage of the consciences of Muslim prisoners by false Imams?

In this uncompromising dialogue with David Pujadas, what is advocated is above all a return to the values of a secular Republic.

Summary

An imam against extremists

A rebellious man of faith, Hassen Chalghoumi wants to reconcile France and Islam. This free man fights fascism, fundamentalism, and disturbs immobility as well as all conformisms.

He publicly supports a law against the burqa, while criticizing certain political maneuvers that are enemies of freedom. Islamists and others tried to silence him. For several months, the Drancy mosque, independent of foreign interference and sectarian manipulation, has been the target of hateful and violent acts and comments.

The imam refuses to allow French Muslims to be hostages of racism and Islamism. He fights both. He fights against fascist apprentices and Islamist crooks. He preached moderation and modernity, tolerance and secularism, rapprochement between the different communities and the promotion of Muslim cadres.
